West Geauga Board of Education - April 11, 2023  SPECIAL MEETING 

Meeting Details: The West Geauga Board of Education met at 7 p.m. in the Board Office Community Room, 8615 Cedar Road in Chester Township.  Meetings are open to the public and media. Agenda and minutes are available online.  A recording of the meeting is available via YouTube.

Public Comments:
per board policy, public comments are not permitted during special meetings.


Item 9.01 - Declaration of Urgent Necessity to Replace Public Address Systems:
defining the matter as an “urgent necessity”under R.C. 3313.46(A), the board overrode the competitive bidding process in order to timely procure properly functioning public address systems in the middle school and high school buildings.


Executive Session
: the board voted to enter executive session for the purpose of discussing the purchase or sale of property.  Dr. Markwardt, Ms. Pavlat and Mark Richardson, West Geauga Facilities Manager, were invited to participate.  The board re-entered regular session at 7:32 pm and no action was taken.


Ms. Leavenworth suggested that the board should recognize staff leadership for their calm professional way they responded to a traumatic terrible situation.  All agreed.
