Join us August 26th for the Centennial Oak Historical Marker Dedication! 

On Women's Equality Day join representatives from the South Newbury Union Chapel Trustees, the Geauga County Park District, the League of Women Voters of Geauga and Northern Portage Co. & others to celebrate the unveiling of the marker.

Ceremony begins at 6:00 pm at South Newbury Union Chapel (15829 Ravenna Rd/Rt 44). Parking & shuttle service available at Faith Baptist Church (12010 Snow Rd).

History of the Chapel and the Oak

On July 4, 1876, the Newbury Woman Suffrage Political Club planted the Centennial Oak near South Newbury Union Chapel as a symbol of strength and the fight for women’s rights. The nationally recognized club welcomed prominent suffragists, including Susan B. Anthony, and later celebrated Ohio’s ratification of the 19th Amendment beneath the tree. Today, the protected white oak and the time capsule buried beneath it remain enduring monuments to the women who advanced the suffrage movement in Geauga County and beyond.

Trusting Our Election Process

VOTING WITH CONFIDENCE: Know the Process, Know the Facts

Please join us as we host Geauga County Board of Elections officials for an informational session about current election policies and procedures. The program is designed to address confusion and concerns resulting from recent changes to Ohio's election laws and election-related mis-information.

Topics will include voting machines, voter registration and ID requirements, absentee ballots, vote tabulation, Election Night reporting and other key aspects of election administration.

GEAUGA COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS
OFFICE HAS MOVED!!!

Unless informed otherwise, your precinct and polling locations will be the same for Election Day voting.
Early in-person absentee voting for the May Primary will be at the new office beginning April 8, 2026.

All normal office business (voter registration, petition filing, campaign finance, etc.) is now handled at the NEW LOCATION:

ADP Board Discusses the Initiation of Union Organization by ADP Staff

Automatic Data Processing (ADP) Board Emergency Meeting

March 2, 2026

What You Need to Know: The ADP Board reviewed documents filed with the Ohio State Employment Relations Board by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), AFL-CIO, seeking to represent 21 ADP employees. After receipt of this formal notice, a state-controlled legal process was initiated with specific protections and restrictions on employer conduct. The Board unanimously authorized the ADP Chief Administrator, Chuck Walder, to retain an HR consultant to ensure compliance with state law and maintain the status quo during the process. In addition to the petition, the Board considered a letter signed by all 21 ADP employees describing their concerns about county leadership, workplace treatment, instability, and culture—issues several officials acknowledged had been building for months—while noting that compensation was not the sole focus of the organizing effort. Comparisons were made to other unionized county departments, and Board members expressed differing views on leadership, budget scrutiny, and the broader implications of unionization, while affirming employees’ rights under Ohio law. A discussion of ADP staff compensation was deferred to the March 5, 2026 ADP Regular Meeting due to executive session notice requirements.
